TSW Updates #1 - Amy Rose

As many of you are aware, TSW has never had it easy. Pretty much each release has been a fight and things have been at a kinda all time low for a little while now.. But things are trying to be dealt with.. anyway.. some noticeable changes should be happening but well, I'm sure if i start saying about them, they won't happen..

I hope to try and get things active in ways like this.. Regular updates on things. This is the first and today we are looking at graphical improvements which kinda track my skills over time. We shall focus on the Character of Amy Rose, lovable Pink Hedgehog gal with the sweat heart to match her personalty.

Well.. i think the improvements are clear.. the first image is from early 2005, from the TSWA Pilot. The plain colouring with black outlines was good But the problems came when things like arms bend, and lines started to look bad as there was a gap between where the lines were and should be. Animation wise, the works was fairly poor as the mouths weren't placed well, would dissapear at the drop of a hat when not talking, etc.. anyway.. after the Mighty and Ray Mini-series, or more, during that, i decided to change to a line-less style which used gradient shading and the second image shows an unused version done late in 2005 which was my first try, when i just pretty much removed the lines and added the colouring. Sorry that, like the first, it's not a full body shot.

The third is how Amy appeared in the first episode of TSWA in 2006. This style pretty much stayed the same, with a small change to the hands and removing of the black lines on the eyes. That's it. As you can see, the main body improved alot with Amy's sweater going from a plain green one, with small ball shaped sleaves, to having the coller and better sized sleaves.

Now, the fourth is best. Many bits have changed. You can't really tell but the shoes have been overhauled into better ones, a new skirt too. Now, the changes you can see, a better hand model with moving thumbs, a whole new sweater, more shading, better collar, the body size has in fact been changed a bit to give a much better size for her. I have improved the line work so.. well.. there isn't any at all (but a little wround the mouth). Not only has the shading been improved, but i have kinda returned the colour to a better pink shade. If you notice, she had a better pink colour at first, then it changed to a more purple colour.

Well.. 5 years since the TSWA Pilot.. that was done to prove to myself, if an animated series was possible... it was proven that it was possible.. then i found problems with limited casts and people wanting to give up or promises to do a role, and then never hear from them again (or just keep hearing promises with no results)... Ah, the things that have happened in 5 years... not amazingly good ¬_¬
