If done a bit later, I would say it’s just had some filter effect applied, mostly to give a black border when they ‘cut’ the image from the painting (of course, not from the original painting but a copy).. but… it might be just be, to do with some contrast changing and stuff but… it looks to have been toughed up in a fair number of places, but that’s not important and like I said, it’s probebly just me.

But for some reason, it’s the Banner I had seen but never really noticed before.. Here is a copy of that:

Now, I’m not sure who did the art or where it was cut out from. That is the Journal Logo. they put on a ‘Mayhem & Anarchy’ sign probably for the advert but for some reason, I never really paid attention to the Two heads. On the Left we have the Lichemaster himself, Heinrich Kemler.

The Latest warhammer supplement they released was ‘The Terror of the Lichemaster’ and this Journal gave a mini sequel to the story, with Kemler now attacking a rival Magician of Barrian, the Master of La Masiontaal, while the new Skaven also attack it. The Monastery itself being given as card building (and some dungeon floor plans).

But what got me was why I never noticed that on the right, was Kaleb Daark. In what is probably the ONLY colour image of him.

We can also see some details not normally see.. but it’s also tricky how much of ‘official’ in a way. I would say Daark’s pale skin is a bit.. bright, He hair is described as being very pale so it appears almost white, yet in this, well.. we can get away with that long side being yellow tinted, but the short crew cut side being pitch black? thats a bit.. odd it’s also a bit longer than it should be. He still has pointy ears but the right eye is of special interest.

I have no clue what is up with his eye. In the original comic, that eye was shown as being much larger then his other ‘normal’ eye, pitch black with a while pupil. The flash back to his early years when he was still just a boy, still showed this eye like it but this image shows it’s an eye patch. Kinda metal one which is… attached to his face? or held in like a Monocle. The pupil is basically a dot of light at the front where it has a bit of a cone like shape.

Does this line up with the comic? I’m gonna say… Yes. yes it does. If you look at some lighting effects at times given to that eye, it does quite allow it to be and in fact, kinda more hints as being metallic. with the dot being the only highlighting we normally see.

I’m sure many people picked up on this image before, But like I said, I’m an idiot who just never noticed that before. We could say he is missing his ear ring but that might be angle.

I am wondering who did that artwork though. It’s clearly not Brett Ewins who did the comic (with Jim McCarthy), and I’m pretty sure it’s not John Blanche who did the cover art. Other art in that Journal issue were by Jes Goodwin, Tony Ackland and Dave Andrews.. well.. I’m pretty sure that’s not Jes Goodwin. I mostly know Dave Andrews art from his Buildings and related but I don’t think it is him either.. And does that really look like Tony Ackland’s work?

of course, we then have the credits in the Issue of White Dwarf I saw that ad. I was probably in a few of them, but the one I was looking at was #76. So that adds Pete Martin, Steve Luxton, Mark Harrison, Michael Beach, Tim Sell and Trevor Hammond… or just someone NOT credited.

Anyway… Minor little bit I wanted to comment on and probably point out how little attention I sometime appeared to have. Wonder If there is any full body colour art I missed… doubt it but oh well.

Okay, a little bonus mid-week post time.
